Pender defeated West Bladen 12-10 Wednesday in Four County Conference jayvee softball action at West. The game was called due to a time limit in the fourth inning.
The Lady Knights outhit the Pender team 11-1, but the Lady Patriots capitalized on 14 walks and 3 hit batters to score their 12 runs.
Freshman Erica McKoy walloped a triple, scored 2 runs and batted a perfect 3-3 to lead the West Bladen hitters. Teammate Brittany Landreth knocked in a run and finished a perfect 2-2 at the plate.
Sophmore Elizabeth Allbright connected for 2 hits in 3 at-bats and scored a run. Anna Moser slammed a double and scored a run, and Abby Dawson, Indiyah Williams, and Katie Ezzell smacked one hit each for West Bladen. Dawson and Ezzell scored one run each.
Meagan Brody pitched the first inning for the Lady Knights, struck out one and allowed one hit and 3 runs. Brinkley Collier pitched the final 3 innings, struck out four and gave up no hits and 9 runs.
Coach Joe Lewis’ Lady Knights suffered their first loss and are now 4-1 on the season.
