FAIRMONT- East Bladen swept Fairmont 2-0 Tuesday in Southeastern Athletic Conference junior varsity volleyball action by set scores of 25-14 and 25-14.

Sophomore Mollie Tolar rallied the Lady Eagles to a 9-5 lead in the opening set with 6 straight service points. Junior Zoe Smith stretched the lead to 13-6 with a trio of service points. Two service points each from Bridget Taylor and Tolar kept the margin at 22-13, before Smith served out the set with a pair of service points.

Freshman Jenna Brice drilled in 5 consecutive service points including 3 aces to open up an 8-2 East lead in the 2nd set. Two service points each from sophomore Mary Frances Sutton and Taylor pushed the lead to 16-6. Jenna Brice reeled off 3 more service points for a 21-10 lead.

Tolar finished with 8 service points and 1 kill to lead the winners. Jenna Brice tallied 8 service points that included 4 aces. Smith racked up 6 service points and 2 attacks. Taylor smacked in 4 service points.

Sutton smashed in 9 attacks, 2 service points, 1 ace and 1 kill for East. Sophomore Iveonna “NeNe” Ward totaled 5 attacks, 2 digs and 2 service points, and freshman Aubrie Nixon added 1 block.

Coach Jessica Eason’s Lady Eagles improved to 7-3 in the SAC-7 and 10-6 overall and will host Red Springs Wednesday night.
