ELIZABETHTOWN- East Bladen swept Red Springs 2-0 Wednesday night in Southeastern Athletic Conference volleyball action by set scores of 25-20 and 25-14.

Sophomore Mollie Tolar sparked the Lady Eagles to an early 7-2 lead with 4 straight service points in the opening set. Freshman Jenna Brice fired in a pair of service points to keep the East lead at 17-9.

Red Springs rallied to within 17-14, but service points from Tolar and sophomore Mary Frances Sutton kept East on top 22-19. Bridget Taylor served out the set with a pair of service points.

Sophomore Iveonna “NeNe” Ward blistered the court with a run of 7 straight service points as the Lady Eagles jumped ahead 8-1 in the 2nd set. Sutton poured in 6 consecutive service points to stretch the lead to 19-7, and Brice knocked in 2 more service points for a 24-11 lead.

Ward led East Bladen with 9 service points, and Sutton racked up 8 service points. Tolar tallied 5 service points, and Jenna Brice collected 4 service points. Taylor contributed 2 service points, and Zoe Smith added 1 service point.

Coach Jessica Eason’s Lady Eagles raised their record to 8-3 in the SAC-7 and 11-6 overall and will host St. Pauls Tuesday in their regular season finale.
