West Bladen’s Knights face a trio of key games this week as they continue their pursuit of the Four County Conference Boys Basketball Championship.
“We will know a lot more about where we stand in the conference race by Friday night,” said Knight Coach Travis Pait.
The Knights are currently 5-2 in conference play, 14-3 overall and tied for second place in the league with Clinton. Wallace-Rose Hill, now 3-2 in the league and 7-4 overall, will visit West Bladen Tuesday night.
Coach Steve Robinson’s Bulldogs were in sole possession of second place until an 80-68 loss at first-place Heide Trask. The Bulldogs are led by senior Johnny Glaspie (13 points per game) and senior Alex Lisane (12.7 ppg).
Point guard Ty Scarborough (8 points and 6 assists per game) has transferred back to the Bulldogs after playing football at Harrells Christian this fall.
Senior guard Stefan McDonald leads the Knights with a 15.6 scoring average. Junior Sayaun Dent fires in 13 ppg, junior John Bowen has a 10.4 ppg average and sophmore Shaquille Johnson contributes 9.4 ppg.
Wednesday night the Knights will travel to Wallace-Rose Hill for a rematch with the Bulldogs that was postponed back in December due to Wallace-Rose Hill’s participation in the Class 1AA State Football Championship.
After the home-and-away games with Wallace-Rose Hill, West Bladen will travel to league-leader Heide Trask Friday night. The Titans are 7-0 in league play, 15-1 overall and are ranked No. 8 in NC Preps.com Class 1A State Poll.
The Titans are led by senior Jacquan London (14.6 ppg), senior Tynaffit Davis (14.4 ppg) and 6-3 senior Johnathan Jordan (14 points and 10 rebounds per game).
