Thursday, May 4 found a large crowd of golfers showing up at 6 p.m. to participate in the Thundering Herd at Vineyard Golf At White Lake.
The Thundering Herd is a nine hole tournament held every Thursday afternoon at the golf course located between White Lake and Elizabethtown off U.S. 701. The Herd has been held since around 1979 when the course was known as Carolina Sands.
Last Thursday found 28 players (7 teams) duking it out for honors. When the dust had cleared the winning team, shooting an eight-under par 28, was Jake Womble, Jason Douglas, Jag Gooden and Kay Graves.
