CERRO GORDO – West Bladen rallied from a 3-1 deficit with 4 unanswered goals to claim a 5-3 Three Rivers Conference men’s soccer victory over West Columbus Monday night.

Junior midfielder Wilmer Garcia scored his third goal of the season in the first half for the Knights, but the Vikings built a 2-1 halftime lead. Another Viking goal early in the second half pushed the margin to 3-1.

Senior Pablo Ortega started the Knight rally with a goal, and senior Edgar Pollo Garcia knocked in a goal to tie the game 3-3. Senior Marcos ‘TeeRex’ Rojas fired in the go-ahead goal for the Knights, and junior Eric Sandoval tacked on an insurance goal.

“I am proud of the way we fought back from that 3-1 deficit,” said Knight Coach Phillip Turnage. “We scored 4 goals in a span of 30 minutes, and it was a definite team effort with five different people scoring.”

Coach Turnage added, “ I have to give a lot of credit to our defense. It was a complete team win.”

The Knights improved to 2-3 in league play and will host Red Springs Wednesday at 6 p.m.
