Middle School Baseball Scrimmages

The Bladen Five Conference baseball season opened Thursday with scrimmages at Clarkton and Bladenboro.

Chase Starkloff batted 3-3 for Elizabethtown at Bladenboro. Pitcher Jackson Wright slammed a double and finished 2-3 at the plate for the Cougars.

Teammate Garrison Tatum hammered a triple, and Evan Pait and Chase Knight smashed doubles. Zamar Lewis, Coleman Tatum and Ahmad Powell belted one hit each for Elizabethtown.

On the mound Wright struck out five and gave up two hits in three innings. Pait pitched two hitless innings of relief and struck out three.

Devon Strange and Bryley Williams belted singles for Bladenboro.

At Clarkton pitcher Samaj Dove struck out ten batters for the Blue Devils. At the plate Dove batted 2-3. Davion Graham also finished 2-3 at the plate for Clarkton, and Sherman Monroe turned in a 2-4 game at the plate.

Nick Bullock walloped a triple for the Blue Devils, and Donnie Ezzell, Lee Barnes and Nyquan Richardson collected one hit each for CSD.

Antonio Candelaria, Todd Richardson, Destin Montgomery, Tucker Carroll, Riley Stanley and Z. Williams connected for one hit each for Tar Heel.
