Shemaiah Leak and Jaheim Lesane combined for 26 points to lead Tar Heel to a 47-43 Bladen Five Middle School Conference victory over Bladenboro Thursday night at Tar Heel.

Leak drained a pair of 3-point shots and led the Panther scoring with 14 points. Lesane also nailed a pair of 3-point shots and finished with 12 points.

Irvin Hernandez tossed in 8 points for the winners, and teammate Tyre Boykin followed with 6 points. Emonta Smith drilled in a 3-point shot to give the Panthers five 3-points baskets in the game. Smith totaled 5 points in the game.

Kerron Washington topped the Bulldog scoring with 10 points. Teammate Aldo Hernandez threw in 8 points, and Keyshawn Lewis and Ronaldo Ramirez added 6 points each for Bladenboro.

“We played a box-and-one on Keyshawn and held him to 6 points,” said Tar Heel Coach Arthur Morrisey. “He killed us the first time we played them.”

Trenton Lyons buried a 3-point shot with 11 seconds left to get the Bulldogs to within four points.

“My guys played hard and played well,” said Coach Morrisey. “I proud of them.”

Tar Heel, now 3-4 on the season, will play at Clarkton School of Discovery Tuesday.
