Shy’Ron Adams and Tray Ballard combined for 21 points to lead Bladenboro to a 32-24 Bladen Five Middle School Conference boys basketball victory over visiting Clarkton School of Discovery Tuesday night.
Adams led the Bulldogs with 11 points, and Ballard was right behind him with 10 points. Guard Logan West followed with 7 points.
Tashuan Berkley topped the CSD scoring with 7 points, and teammates Javant McDowell and Lawson Hester finished with 6 points each.
Ballard worked the paint for 2 baskets and a free throw in the opening period, and Adams netted a pair of baskets as the Bulldogs grabbed an 11-4 lead. McDowell and Jacob Priest scored Clarkton baskets in the quarter.
Adams drained a 3-point shot in the second quarter, and Da’Shawn Hines and West added a basket each as the Bulldogs stretched their lead to 20-11.
Berkley, Hester and Xavier McKoy kept Clarkton close with a basket each in the quarter, and Berkley tacked on a free throw.
Hester threw in 2 baskets in the third quarter to lead a Blue Devil rally, and McDowell and Berkley dropped in one basket each. McDowell sank 2 free throws, and McKoy hit one as an 11-4 run pulled Clarkton to within 28-26.
Baskets by Ballard and Adams kept the Bulldogs in front.
West nailed a 3-point shot in the final quarter, and Ballard pumped in a basket and a free throw as the Bulldogs sealed the verdict with an 8-2 closing run. Hines added a basket in the period for Bladenboro.
Berkley scored the only Clarkton basket in the quarter.
The Bulldogs improved to 3-2 with the victory, while Clarkton dropped to 4-1.
