CLARKTON — Isaiah Minus and Sincere McKinley teamed up to scored 25 points and lead Bladenboro to a 40-11 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ basketball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery Thursday night.
Coach Joe Gore’s Bulldogs improved to 4-3 and will entertain West Columbus Tuesday night. The Blue Devils, now 0-7, will host Tabor City Tuesday night.
Minus bombed in a trio of 3-point shots and led the Bulldogs with 13 points. McKinley was right behind him with 12 points. Teammate Corbin Chadwick pumped in 6 points, and Gaston Russ scored 4 points. ShyRon Thompson, Prince Powell and Zamarion Pone all tallied 3 points for Clarkton.
Minus fired in 2 of his 3-balls in the opening quarter, and McKinley blistered the nets with a 3-pointer, 2 more baskets and 2 free throws. Teammate Cole Brisson nailed a 3-point shot as the Bulldogs grabbed an 18-2 lead. Thompson cashed in 2 free throws for the Blue Devil points.
McKinley tossed in a basket and a free throw in the 2nd period. Minus buried a 3-point shot, and teammate Jace Lesane flipped in a basket. Zamarion Pone drained a 3-point shot for Clarkton, and Prince Powell powered in a basket and a free throw to keep the margin at 26-8 at halftime.
Chadwick rang up 3 baskets in the 3rd quarter for the Bulldogs, and Russ drove for a pair of baskets. Minus contributed another basket and 2 free throws as the lead swelled to 40-8. Omar Powell connected for the final Blue Devil basket in the 4th period, and Thompson tacked on another free throw.
