BLADENBORO – Bladenboro’s defense held Williams Township scoreless for over 12 minutes Tuesday night, while the Bulldog offense was piling up 29 unanswered points en route to a 41-12 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys basketball victory.

Williams’ Easton McPherson flipped in a lay-up, then popped in a 12-footer to trim a 7-point Bulldog lead to 13-9 with 1:19 left in the 1st half. After a Bulldog time-out, Bladenboro’s Jackson Pait stole the ball and raced for a lay-up then nailed a 3-point shot to stretch the halftime lead to 18-9.

The Bulldogs blistered the nets with a trio of 3-point shots to start the 3rd quarter. Gavin Elks connected on 3-balls from the left wing and the right corner, and Justin Spaulding drilled in a 3-ball from the left corner. Elks and Pait sank 2 free throws each.

Center Kendell Lesane powered in a follow shot, Tylik McCall fired in a 3-pointer, and Weston Hilburn muscled in a 4-footer to push the Bulldog lead to 38-9. Hunter Hester made a free throw to start a mercy-rule running clock in the final period. Elijah McCollum banked in a runner for a 41-9 lead.

Pait and Lesane shared scoring honors with 9 points each for the Bulldogs. Elks finished with 8 points, and McCall added 5 points. Easton McPherson led Williams with 5 points.

Lesane opened the game with a rebound basket, and Pait and McCall delivered assists to Lesane for a pair of lay-ups. Elks sent a pass to Pait for a lay-up, and Hester banged in a lay-up for a 10-5 Bulldog lead at the quarter break. McCall flipped in a runner, and Lesane hit a free throw to push the lead to 13-7.

Coach Joe Gore’s Bulldogs improved to 5-0 and will host Nakina Tuesday night.
