BLADENBORO — Bladenboro outscored East Columbus 35-9 in the middle 2 quarters Tuesday night and defeated the Hawks 47-39 in Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ basketball action.

J.T. Hudson tossed in a trio of baskets as the Hawks raced to an early 14-3 lead. Isaiah Minus threw in a basket for the Bulldogs, and Corben Chadwick canned a free throw.

Jace Lesane, Sincere McKinley and Minus keyed a 17-3 2nd quarter blitz that vaulted the Bulldogs in front 20-16. Lesane and McKinley pumped in 2 baskets and a free throw each in the period, and Minus nailed a 3-point shot and another basket. Chadwick also dropped in a basket.

The Bulldog surge continued into the 3rd quarter as McKinley blistered the nets with 4 baskets. Teammate Gaston Russ sank 4 straight free throws, and Chadwick muscled in 2 baskets. Minus cashed in 2 free throws as the lead grew to 38-23.

McKinley filled up the rims with 2 baskets and a free throw in the final period. Chadwick and Minus tacked on a basket each.

McKinley racked up 18 points to lead the Bulldog attack. Minus rang up 11 points, and Chadwick followed with 9. Lesane tallied 5 points, and Russ totaled 4 points.

Hudson led the Hawks with 18 points, and Xavier King finished with 8 points.

Coach Joe Gore’s Bulldogs, now 3-3, will travel to Clarkton School of Discovery Thursday night. East Columbus, now 5-4, will host West Columbus Thursday night.
