BLADENBORO – Twelve of fifteen Bladenboro players scored Tuesday as the Bulldogs celebrated Homecoming with a 62-21 Bladen Five Middle School Conference boys basketball victory over East Arcadia.
Emanuel Lewis drained a 3-point shot and another basket then hit two free throws as the Panthers built a 7-3 lead. Center Jude Stanley answered with a basket and a free throw, and Jaylen Newkirk and Jarrett Kinlaw threw in baskets as the Bulldogs tied the game.
Brycen Blackmon banked in a 3-point shot at the buzzer to give Bladenboro a 10-7 lead at the quarter break.
Center Deonte Lacy powered his way inside for four baskets to lead a 17-3 second-quarter Bulldog blitz. Blackmon, Landon Stanley and Gary Parker tossed in baskets, before Bryley Williams bombed in a 3-point shot at the halftime buzzer.
Kenneth Armstrong sank 2 free throws, and Lewis made one for the only East Arcadia points in the period that ended with Bladenboro on top 27-11.
Lacy worked the paint for three more baskets in the third quarter, and Blackmon, Parker and Landon Stanley pumped in two baskets each. Teammate Michael Young added a basket as the Bulldog lead grew to 47-13.
Lewis tallied the only Panther basket in the period. Lewis fired in two more baskets in the final period and led the East Arcadia scoring with 14 points. Teammate Dashawn Ballard nailed a 3-point shot in the final quarter, and Oliverio Matias chipped in with a basket.
Kinlaw rang up two baskets and a free throw in the final period to finish with 7 points for the Bulldogs. Young, Ricky Brisson, Kaiden Stanley, Walter Bealon and Landon Stanley connected for one basket each in the quarter.
Lacy topped the Bladenboro scoring with 14 points. Blackmon totaled 9 points, and Landon Stanley finished with 8 points. Parker totaled 6 points for the winners.
The Bulldogs improved to 5-2 with the victory and will close out their regular season at Clarkton School of Discovery Thursday.
