CLARKTON – Clarkton School of Discovery’s boys opened their Bladen Five Middle School Basketball season Tuesday with a 38-22 victory over East Arcadia.

Both teams struggled early as the Blue Devils Javis Brooks scored the only basket of the opening quarter.

Nazire Smith drained a 3-point shot, two baskets and a free throw in the second period as Clarkton opened up an 18-10 lead. Teammate Anthony McKoy nailed a 3-point shot, a basket and a free throw, and Sam Inscoe popped in a basket.

Emanuel bombed in a pair of 3-point shots and made a trio of free throws for the Panthers in the second period. Kenneth added a free throw for East Arcadia in the quarter.

Smith pumped in 2 more baskets in the third quarter, and McGill, Inscoe and Lamont Pridgen tossed in a basket each as the Blue Devil lead grew to 28-16 at the quarter break.

Emanuel drilled in a 3-point shot and a free throw for East Arcadia in the third period. Kenneth was credited with another basket for the Panthers.

Samaj Dove threw in a pair of baskets for Clarkton in the final quarter, and Smith, Pridgen and Brooks contributed a basket each in the period for the Blue Devils.

Aljuan buried a 3-point shot for East Arcadia in the fourth period, Kenneth hurled in another basket and Emanuel hit a free throw.

Smith topped the Clarkton scoring with 14 points, and McGill finished with 8 points. Emanuel’s 14 points led the Panthers, and Kenneth followed with 5 points.
