NAKINA — Nakina built leads of 10-4 and 19-9 then held on for a 28-24 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ basketball victory over Bladenboro Wednesday night.

Corben Chadwick and Isaiah Minus scored the only baskets for the Bulldogs in the 1st half. Chadwick drained a 3-point shot and another basket in the 3rd period, but Nakina stretched their lead to 19-9.

Minus rallied the Bulldogs with a pair of 3-point baskets and another basket in the final period. Chadwick buried a 3-point shot and another basket, and Devan Stanley sank 2 free throws to slice the final margin to four.

Walker Smith threw in a 3-point basket and 2 free throws in the final quarter to keep the Mustangs on top. Smith finished with 10 points, and teammate C. J. Joseph followed with 8 points.

Chadwick topped all scorers with 12 points for the Bulldogs, and Minus was right behind him with 10 points. Bladenboro, now 1-2, will travel to Whiteville Central Thursday.
