TABOR CITY Williams Township remained in the hunt for a share of the Waccamaw Middle School Conference’s ‘A’ Division championship Thursday night with a 36-24 boys’ basketball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery.

Williams, now 2-1 in ‘A’ Division play and 4-6 overall, will entertain 3-0 Tar Heel Monday night. The Blue Devils, now 0-9, will host Elizabethtown Wednesday.

Cam Bellamy tossed in 14 points, Nathan Edwards rang up 12 points and Duncan Worley netted 8 points for Williams. Zamarion Pone topped the Blue Devil scoring with 8 points. Omar Powell flipped in 5 points, and Prince Powell followed with 4 points.

Prince Powell pumped in the 1st Clarkton basket. Omar Powell sank 2 free throws and a basket, and Zamarion Pone bombed in a 3-ball. Prince Powell’s free throw kept the Blue Devils even 10-10 at halftime.

Three baskets from Bellamy and 2 more from Worley sparked Williams to a 25-20 lead. Pone buried a 3-point shot and another basket for Clarkton. Teammates Darnell Rouse and Noah White threw in baskets, and Prince Powell cashed in another free throw.

Edwards keyed an 11-4 closing run by the Aggies with a 3-point basket and another basket. Bellamy banged in 2 more baskets. Ryne Priest drained a Blue Devil basket, and Omar Powell and Shawn Davisson canned a free throw each.
