WHITEVILLE– For the 2nd time in 5 days Clarkton School of Discovery edged Columbus Charter 3-2 in a penalty kick shootout Tuesday in non-conference middle school boys’ soccer action.

“That’s twice we have tied them and won 3-2 on PK’s. Better to be lucky than good!” said Blue Devil Coach Robert Mazur. “I am just glad we don’t play them again.”

Omar Powell, Jerod Smith and Prince Powell drilled in their penalty kicks to account for the winning margin in the shootout.

Salvador Gonzalez fired in a goal in each half for the Blue Devils, and Cayden Morton banged in a goal off of a corner kick to tie the game 3-3 and that is how regulation play ended.

The Blue Devils raised their record to 4-3 and will visit Whiteville Central Thursday.
