BLADENBORO- Natalee Sykes fired in 10 points to lead Bladenboro to a 13-11 girls’ basketball victory over Nakina Tuesday in a battle of unbeaten teams in the Waccamaw Middle School Conference’s ‘A’ Division.
Sykes sank 3 free throws and a basket in the opening period as the Lady Bulldogs took a 5-4 lead. Sykes buried a 3-point shot, and teammate Addison Wilcox tossed in a free throw to stretch the Bladenboro lead to 9-4 at halftime.
Nakina trimmed the margin to 9-5, but Kali Allen and Sykes popped in baskets in the final quarter to keep Bladenboro on top. T. Strickland scored 9 points for the Lady Mustangs.
Coach Otis Evans’ Lady Bulldogs improved to 6-0 on the season and sit atop the Waccamaw’s ‘A’ Division. Bladenboro will travel to Elizabethtown Thursday.
