CLARKTON – Cabria Baldwin poured in 22 points to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 33-27 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ basketball victory over Williams Township Wednesday.
Baldwin rang up a pair of baskets in the opening period. Teammate Montierra Richardson drained a 3-point shot, and Layla Lent flipped in a basket as Clarkton took a 9-6 lead.
The lead grew to 23-14 at halftime as Baldwin bombed in a pair of 3-point shots, threw in 2 more baskets and netted 2 free throws. Teammate Nevaeh Brown sank 2 foul shots in the period. Jamie Lynn Godwin scored 8 of her 10 points in the 1st half to keep Williams close.
Baldwin padded the CSD lead to 27-16 with a pair of 3rd quarter baskets. Brown and Brenna Hester tossed in 4th quarter baskets for the winners, and Baldwin tacked on 2 free throws.
McKenzie Spivey pumped in 8 of her 10 points for the Lady Aggies in the final period. Brown followed Baldwin on the Lady Blue Devil scoring list with 4 points.
Coach Savanna Elkins’ Lady Blue Devils improved to 3-2 on the season and will travel to Nakina Thursday.
