CERRO GORDO- Skylah Collins and Alaina Spencer combined for 20 points to lead West Columbus to a 36-15 Waccamaw Middle School Conference ‘AA’ Division girls’ basketball victory over Tar Heel Monday.
Collins led the Lady Warriors with 11 points, and Spencer followed with 9 points. Teammate Demya Powell netted 8 points. Abigail Dew topped the Tar Heel scoring with 6 points.
Dew popped in the initial Lady Panther basket in the game then sank 2 free throws in the 2nd period. Janavia Adams tossed in a Tar Heel basket in the 3rd quarter. Jasmine Robeson drilled in a 3-point shot in the final period, and Dew, ZaAsia Lewis and Genesis Fernandez threw in a basket each for the Lady Panthers.
The Lady Panthers, now 0-6 in league play and 0-8 overall, will host Whiteville Central Thursday.
