WHITEVILLE – Shipman poured in 27 points to lead Whiteville Central to a 31-12 halftime lead en route to a 36-15 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ basketball victory over Tar Heel Thursday night.

Shipman racked up 11 points in the opening period then pumped in 16 more in the 2nd quarter. Dennis scored 6 points for the Lady Hornets.

Jamaiya Ballard tossed in a 1st period basket for Tar Heel, and teammate Leidi Zuniga bombed in a 3-point shot then tacked on a free throw in the 2nd quarter.

Zuniga fired in 3 baskets in the 2nd half then drained another 3-point shot to finish with 13 points for the Lady Panthers.

Tar Heel will host Elizabethtown Tuesday.
