Sophia Masaid recorded a ‘Hat Trick’ plus one as her 4 goals led Clarkton School of Discovery to a 9-2 Bladen Five Middle School Conference girls soccer victory over Bladenboro Thursday night at County Park.

Masaid sent a pass to Lauren Bowen who scored the first Lady Blue Devil goal in the fourth minute. The Lady Bulldogs tied the game on a corner kick as Kaden Thurman assisted on a Lainey Autry goal.

In the 18th minute, Clarkton’s Abbie Collins broke the tie with an unassisted goal. However Bladenboro’s Rylie Chadwick sent a pass to Ocean Woody who knocked in the goal that knotted the score at 2-2.

Masaid put the Lady Blue Devils ahead to stay with a goal in the 24th minute. Bowen stretched the lead to 4-2 with her second goal of the game five minutes later.

In the 33rd minute Masaid scored her second goal of the game and padded the margin to 5-2. Masaid drilled in a penalty kick 2 minutes later as the lead grew to 6-2. Heather Hardin converted Sara Gargala’s throw-in into a Lady Blue Devil goal in the 37th minute.

Three minutes later Collins turned an assist from Cydney Campbell into her second goal of the game. Masaid capped the scoring with her fourth goal in the 47th minute.

Coach Jordan Raynor’s Lady Blue Devils improved to 3-0 with the victory. Bladenboro is now 1-2.
