TAR HEEL – Tar Heel’s Lady Panthers won their Waccamaw AA Conference middle school girls soccer opener Thursday over Elizabethtown on penalty kicks by a 2-1 margin.
The two teams battled to a 2-2 tie in regulation play with Karla Mejia and Kathrine Mejia scoring the Tar Heel goals. Leidi Zuniga Labra and Kathrine Mejia drilled in the penalty kick goals for the Lady Panthers in the shootout.
Tar Heel will travel to East Columbus Thursday. Elizabethtown will host West Columbus Thursday.
