Middle School Girls Softball: Elizabethtown 19, Emereau Charter 0

ELIZABETHTOWN –Laura Davisson pitched a one-hitter and struck out 13 batters to lead Elizabethtown to a 19-0 non-conference middle school victory Monday over Emereau Charter.

Davisson slammed a lead-off double in the first inning and Iveonna Ward walked. Both of them scored to put the Lady Cougars ahead 2-0.

Lauren Council walked to start the Elizabethtown second inning, and McKenzee Kellam belted a single. Davisson knocked in both Council and Kellam with a double then scored to push the lead to 5-0.

Laila Smith drew a walk, and Mary Frances Sutton doubled to begin the Lady Cougar third inning. Council, Kellam, Abril Mena, Ward and Lainey Hughes all drew walks. Laila Smith, Sutton, Council and Kellam all scored to push the Elizabethtown lead to 9-0.

Davisson ripped a double down the leftfield line to start the ten-run Elizabethtown fifth inning. Ward smacked a single that scored Davisson, and Hughes walloped a double that scored Ward. Laila Smith rapped a single that scored Hughes.

Sutton and Heavyn Smith slapped singles that scored Laila Smith. Brianna Warquiler, Davisson and Ward drew walks that scored Sutton and Heavyn Smith. Hughes blasted a grand-slam home run over the rightfielder’s head to stretch the lead to 19-0.

Davisson batted 3-4 with 3 doubles, 3 runs batted in and 4 runs scored. Hughes slugged the grand-slam homer and a double, had 6 rbi’s and scored 6 runs. Sutton batted 3-4 with a double and 2 runs scored.

Ward, Laila Smith, Heavyn Smith, and Kellam added one hit each. Ward had 2 rbi’s, and Laila Smith, Heavyn Smith, Kellam, Mena and Zoe Smith had one rbi each. Ward scored 3 runs, and Laila Smith, Council, and Kellam scored 2 runs each. Heavyn Smith and Warquiler scored one run each.

Aubrei cracked a third-inning single for the only Lady Aviator hit.
