WHITEVILLE – Bladenboro pushed across a pair of runs in the 9th inning that lifted the Lady Bulldogs to a 12-10 Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball victory over Williams Township Thursday.

Leea Wilkins drew a 2-out walk in the Lady Bulldog 9th inning. Marlie Walters and Holland Davis reached base on errors, and Marly Crabtree ripped a single to left. Wilkins and Walters scored the deciding runs for Bladenboro.

Wilkins batted 3-for-5 with a double and 2 runs scored for the Lady Bulldogs. Teammate Georgia Hester turned in a 2-for-5 performance and scored a run. Kali Allen finished 2-for-6 at the plate, and Davis walloped a 2-run homer and scored twice.

Kallie Bass, Natalie Sykes, Crabtree and Walters connected for one hit each for Bladenboro. Bass and Walters scored 2 runs each, and Crabtree, Sykes and Gracie Todd scored one run each.

Walters belted a single, and Davis blasted her 2-run homer to right field in the Bladenboro 1st inning. Bass and Georgia Hester smacked singles to center field in the 2nd inning, and Wilkins beat out an infield hit as Bass scored to pad the Lady Bulldog lead to 3-1.

Davis, Crabtree and Sykes reached base on errors in the Bladenboro 5th inning and all 3 of them scored. Allen and Hester delivered singles in the inning as their lead grew to 6-2.

Williams closed the gap to 6-4 before Bladenboro answered with a 4-run, 7th inning. Allen and Sykes started the inning with singles, but were retired on fielder’s choices by Bass and Hester. Todd reached base on an error as Bass scored. Wilkins laced a single to center field, and Walters reached base on an error as Hester, Todd and Wilkins scored to push the lead to 10-4.

The Lady Aggies rallied to tie the game with 6 runs in the home half of the 7th on 3 hits, 2 errors and a walk.

Crabtree pitched all 9 innings to pick up the win. Coach Otis Evans’ Lady Bulldogs will host Nakina Tuesday.
