Clarkton School of DiscoveryELIZABETHTOWN – Maddie Taylor and Karli Priest combined to pitch a perfect game Thursday as Clarkton School of Discovery defeated Elizabethtown 16-0 in Bladen Five Middle School softball action.

Taylor pitched the first 2 innings and struck out two batters. Priest worked the third inning in the circle and also struck out 2 batters.

Addie Bowen and Karli Priest both reached base on errors to begin the Clarkton first inning. Mariah Smith delivered a single that scored Bowen and Priest.

Shy’Asia Ratliff was hit by a pitch, and Emma Turbeville smacked a single to rightfield that scored Smith and Ratliff. Turbeville scored on a passed ball for a 5-0 lead.

Taylor and Bowen beat out infield hits to start the Lady Blue Devil second inning. Priest smacked a single that scored Taylor, and Smith drilled a single to centerfield that scored Bowen. Ratliff blasted a triple to left-centerfield that drove in Priest and Smith.

Turbeville reached base on an error as Ratliff scored. AnnaGrey Heustess followed with a single that scored Turbeville, and Cydney Campbell knocked in Heustess with a single to rightfield that pushed the lead to 12-0.

Priest slammed a double to left-centerfield to begin the Clarkton third inning. Smith and Ratliff reached base on errors as Priest and Smith scored. Heustess slapped a single and scored as Molly Evans reached base on an error. Maegan Burney drove in Evans with a single for the final Clarkton run.

Priest batted 2-3 with a double, 3 runs scored and a run batted in to lead the Clarkton hitters. Smith also finished 2-3 at the plate with 3 runs scored and 3 rbi’s. Heustess batted 2-3 with 2 runs scored and an rbi. Ratliff walloped the 2-run triple and scored twice.

Bowen, Turbeville, Campbell, Burney and Taylor connected for one hit each. Bowen and Turbeville scored 2 runs each, and Evans and Taylor scored one run each. Turbeville drove in 2 runs, and Campbell and Burney drove in one run each.

Clarkton clinched second place in the Bladen Five with the victory. Coach Jordan Raynor’s Lady Blue Devils finished 4-2 on the season.

Elizabethtown concluded the season with a 2-4 record.
