TAR HEEL – Elizabethtown rode an 11-run fourth inning rally to a 16-7 Bladen Five Middle School Conference softball victory over Tar Heel.

The Lady Panthers and pitcher Gracie Register had shutout the Lady Cougars in the first two innings. Tar Heel jumped in front with three runs in their first inning.

Briley Stanley, Caroline Brisson and Hannah Richardson drew walks and all three came around to score on wild pitches.

Elizabethtown rallied with a 5-run third inning. Zoe Smith singled and Max Strickland drove her in with a single. Lainey Hughes blasted a 2-run homer to left-centerfield to tie the game.

Alexus Mitchell and Sara Corriveau drew walks. Mitchell raced home on a wild pitch, and Corriveau scored on Ronkira Lennon’s fielder’s choice.

Laura Davisson led off the Lady Cougar fourth inning with a single, and Smith, Strickland and Hughes drew walks. Davisson and Smith dashed home on wild pitches, and Mitchell drove in Strickland and Hughes with a single.

Mitchell darted home on a wild pitch, and Corriveau and Lennon followed with singles. Davisson walked, and Smith’s hit scored Corriveau. Lennon dashed home on a wild pitch. Strickland walked, and Hughes belted a single that scored Davisson and Strickland.

Mitchell lined a single to rightfield that scored Hughes and stretched the Elizabethtown lead to 16-3.

Violet Allen was hit by a pitch to begin the Tar Heel fourth inning. Richardson and Haleigh Fields drew walks and all 3 runners sprinted home on wild pitches.

Stanley walked to begin the Lady Panther fifth and scored the final run on Kennedy Carroll’s single.

Hughes batted 3-3 with the home run, 4 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Mitchell drove in 4 runs with a 2-2 game and scored 2 runs. Strickland batted 2-2 with 2 rbi’s and 3 runs scored.

Smith batted 2-3 with an rbi and 3 runs scored. Davisson, Lennon, and Corriveau collected one hit each for the winners. Lennon had 2 rbi’s. Davisson and Corriveau scored 2 runs each. Lennon and Azariah Rhodie scored one run each.

Strickland pitched a 3-hitter and struck out 9 batters to pick up the win for Elizabethtown. Register struck out 5 and scattered 12 hits for Tar Heel.

Richardson, Carroll and Violet Allen connected for one hit each for the Lady Panthers. Stanley scored twice, and Caroline Brisson, Register, Violet Allen, Richardson and Fields scored one run each. Carroll drove in a run.
