CLARKTON – Tabor City rallied with 11 runs in the 5th inning to overcome a 22-14 Clarkton School of Discovery lead and edge the Lady Blue Devils 25-23 Tuesday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball action.

After Tabor City scored 4 runs in the 1st inning, Zoie Durden drew a lead-off walk in the Lady Blue Devil half of the 1st, and Nadya Colon walloped a 2-run home run. Neveah Brown walked, stole a base and also scored to trim the Tabor lead to 4-3.

The Lady Eagles went up 12-3 in the top of the 2nd, but Camryn Wood and Ellie Kinlaw drew walks, and Rahnyia McLean was hit by a pitch. Durden hammered a triple to clean the bases. Colon walked, and Brown slammed a double to drive her in. Tyliah Freeman and Jahzara Rouse reached base and scored, and Brown scored earlier to slice the margin to 12-10.

Kinlaw and McLean drew walks to begin the Lady Blue Devil 3rd inning. Durden belted a single that scored Kinlaw. Colon was hit by a pitch, and Brown and Freeman drew walks to force home McLean and Durden. Rouse blasted a home run that scored Colon, Brown and Freeman and put Clarkton ahead 17-12.

McLean walked to begin the CSD 4th inning, and Durden and Colon were hit by pitches. Brown’s fielder’s choice plated McLean but forced out Durden. Rouse drilled her 2nd home run that scored Colon and Brown. Kynzlee Wood walked and scored to grow the Lady Blue Devil lead to 22-14.

After Tabor City went up 25-22, Brown walked and scored the final Lady Blue Devil run in the 5th inning.

Rouse slugged 2 home runs, scored 3 runs and had 7 RBIs. Durden batted 2-for-2 with a triple, scored twice and had 4 RBIs. Colon homered, scored 4 runs and had 2 RBIs. Brown doubled, scored 5 runs and had 3 RBIs. Freeman scored twice and had 1 RBI. Kynzlee Wood scored a run. Camryn Wood and Ellie Kinlaw scored 2 runs each, and McLean scored 3 runs.

Clarkton, now 0-3, will host Bladenboro Tuesday.
