FRANKLINTON – The East Bladen 4×200 meter and 4×100 meter boys relay teams finished second and third in their respective races Friday in the NCHSAA Class 2A Mid-East Regionals.

Both teams are composed of the same four young men – seniors Trevares Carter and Josh McKoy and junior twin brothers Ethan Hines and Eian Hines. In the 4×200 meter race, the East Bladen team posted a time of 1 minute, 31.35 seconds to finish second to Carrboro’s 1:29.93.

In the 4×100 meter relay, the Eagles’ time of 43.84 seconds was good enough for third place. Carrboro won the relay with a time of 43.54.

East Bladen senior Autumn Lockamy posted a fifth-place finish in the girls shot put with a heave of 32 feet, 2 inches. Qwai-Zia Pennix of Jordan-Matthews won the event with a toss of 35 feet, 9.5 inches.

Ethan Hines also captured a fifth-place finish in the boys long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 11.5 inches. Antawn Johnson of Franklinton won the event with a jump of 23 feet, 7.5 inches.

Two other Eagles competed in the long jump. Eian Hines was 11th with a leap of 20 feet, 10.5 inches followed by senior Trinas McDowell who was 12th with a jump of 20 feet, 8 inches.

The East Bladen girls 4×100 relay team composed of seniors Michelle Page, Tatyiana Graham, Kaytlyn Goss and Danika Spaulding finished in eleventh place with a time of 54.74 seconds. Burlington Cummings won the event with a time of 48.07.

The 4×200 meter relay team of Page, Graham, Spaulding and senior Caila Johnson also finished eleventh with a time of 1 minute, 53.71 seconds. Cummings won that event with a time of 1:44.47.

Graham also competed in the 100 meter dash and was clocked in 13.34 seconds which placed her in 21st place. Selina Franco of Red Springs took first place with a time of 12.14.
