A staff report

The “Working Together Online Learning Series,” a dedicated initiative for educators and family members of students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), has announced a new schedule of sessions aimed at fostering stronger school-family partnerships. Ruth Huggins with the Bladen County LICC announced the series for good training for parents and educators.

The series, taking place every Tuesday from April 16th to May 21st between 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm, is focused on learning strategies to navigate and resolve conflicts constructively. Collaboration is the cornerstone of student success, particularly when it comes to supporting students with IEPs. Recognizing that conflicts are a natural component of any significant relationship, this series aims to arm participants with effective methods to approach disputes positively. It highlights the importance of fortifying relationships to manage differences with minimal discord.

The series covers a broad range of pertinent topics, including building trust, managing emotions, optimizing IEP meetings, enhancing listening skills, conflict resolution, and maintaining a focus on common interests. These sessions are not isolated learning experiences; rather, they present a cohesive educational journey, with each workshop building upon the last. Attendees are encouraged to participate in the entire series to maximize benefits and will be awarded certificates of completion after attending all six sessions. This educational endeavor underscores a proactive step towards enriching the communication and collaborative efforts between families and educational institutions for the betterment of student outcomes.
