The Bladen County Rabies Clinics for May might have reached an all time high. Two of  the veterinarians in Bladen County offered a Rabies Clinic in May.

Dr. Sheila Hanby with Bladen Animal Hospital and Dr. Douglas Gensel with Elizabethtown Veterinary Hospital both reported being pleased with the number of vaccines given out in May. Over 150 animals were vaccinated at the Bladen Animal Hospital’s free rabies clinic in May according to Dr. Hanby.

Dr. Gensel reported over a 130 animals being vaccinated at his rabies clinics in May. Now is time the Rabies Clinics offered by Elizabethtown Veterinary Hospital again. The clinics will be offered throughout Bladen County tomorrow, Saturday, June 3rd at various places. The cost of the Rabies Vaccines will be $6.

North Carolina law states that “the owner of very dog and cat over four months of age shall have the animal vaccinated against rabies.” In Bladen County, the owners of dogs and cats which have not been vaccinated in accordance with the law are subject to a civil penalty of $200. If the pet is due for a 3-year vaccine, owners are asked to bring proof of a previous vaccine.
