ELIZABETHTOWN -Jalen Ballard and Derrick Gilchrist scored 2 touchdowns each to lead the Gators to a 33-12 victory over the Spartans Thursday night in the opening night of Bladen Recreation 7-9 Youth Tackle Football action at County Park.
Ballard scored a pair of early touchdowns on runs of 2 and 15 yards. Gilchrist, the Gator quarterback, ran for the conversion after Ballard’s 2nd touchdown for a 13-0 Gator lead.
Saeed McElveen grabbed a swing pass from quarterback Tony Robinson and raced 27 yards for a Spartan touchdown that trimmed the margin to 13-6.
Gilchrist popped through the line and dashed 65 yards for a Gator touchdown then kept the ball and darted 16 yards for his 2nd touchdown that grew the lead to 26-6 after Ballard tacked on a conversion run.
Jaden McKoy galloped 18 yards for the Spartans’ 2nd touchdown.
