DUNN – West Bladen senior Rylee Chadwick has been named the 2023 Southeastern Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Year. Chadwick starred in the circle, at the plate and at shortstop as the Lady Knights posted a 15-8 overall record and their 10-2 conference mark placed them 2nd behind Class 2A Eastern Regional Champion Midway.

Chadwick, the ace of West Bladen staff, pitched 13 complete games and finished with an 11-8 record with 1 save. The hard-throwing right-hander struck out 148 batters in 107.2 innings.

At the plate Chadwick led the West Bladen hitters with a .478 batting average, 33 hits, 8 doubles and 21 stolen bases. She also scored 34 runs, knocked in 15 runs, had 1 triple and posted a .623 slugging percentage.

“Rylee leads by example,” said Lady Knight Coach Pam Stephens. “She was always wanting extra swings or extra ground balls at practice. She had a great desire to get better. She is definitely deserving of this honor.”
