ELIZABETHTOWN – Senior Laura Davisson pitched a 3-hit shutout as East Bladen clinched a tie for 3rd place in the Southeastern Athletic Conference with a 13-0 softball victory over Red Springs Wednesday night. Davisson struck out 1 batter and did not issue a walk.

Coach Chris Davisson’s Lady Eagles improved to 7-4 in the SAC-7 and 11-10 overall and will travel to St. Pauls’ Friday night to close out regular season play. St. Pauls’ must win Thursday night at West Bladen and again Friday just to tie East Bladen.

Senior Karli Priest smoked a single to center field to start the Lady Eagle 1st inning, stole 2nd base and came around to score on a pair of wild pitches. Freshman Cabria Baldwin walked, advanced on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch.

Davisson reached base on an error, moved up on a wild pitch and scored on freshman Niyah Wooten’s fielder’s choice. Sophomore Martha Simmons scorched a single through the middle, stole a base and scored when freshman Jenna Brice smashed a single to right field. Brice raced home when sophomore Gabriella Bray raked a single to center field for a 5-0 lead.

Baldwin reached base on an error to lead off the 2nd inning, and Davisson ripped a double to left-center field that plated Baldwin. Wooten blasted a triple to center field that scored Davisson, and Simmons knocked in Wooten with a single to center. Simmons advanced on a wild pitch and scored on Bray’s fielder’s choice to stretch the East lead to 9-0.

Priest walked to start the Lady Eagle 3rd inning, and Baldwin and Davisson both reached base on errors that scored Priest and Baldwin. Wooten’s fielder’s choice scored Davisson and boosted the lead to 12-0.

Priest reached base on an error to begin the East 4th inning and scored on Baldwin’s fielder’s choice.

Simmons batted 2-for-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored to lead the Lady Eagle hitters. Wooten tripled, drove in 3 runs and scored a run. Davisson doubled, scored 3 runs and had an RBI. Priest, Bray and Brice connected for 1 hit each.

Bray had 2 RBIs, and Brice and Baldwin had 1 RBI each. Priest and Baldwin scored 3 runs each, and Brice scored a run.
