SOUTHPORT – Senior Haley Kirby and sophomore Kina Davis teamed up to pitch a 2-hit shutout and strike-out 10 batters as they led South Brunswick to a 2-0 non-conference softball victory over West Bladen Monday night.

Kirby allowed 1 hit and no walks while striking out 6 in her 5 innings in the circle. Davis struck out 4 and gave up 2 hits and no walks in her 2 innings of relief.

Junior Gracie Faircloth ripped a single to left in the West 4th inning. Senior Rylee Chadwick lined a single to left in the Lady Knight 6th inning, and senior Kaitlynn Brisson smacked a single to right and stole a base in the 7th inning.

Chadwick pitched a 7-hitter for West Bladen, striking out 5, hitting a batter and walking two while allowing the 2 runs.

Kirby batted 2-for-3 and drove in a run, and Davis finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a run batted in to lead the Lady Cougar attack. Juniors Veronica Nation and Macy Sellers both cracked singles and scored runs.

West Bladen, now 1-3, will travel to East Columbus Wednesday for a 6 p.m. game.
