WHITEVILLE – Bladenboro rallied from a 6-1 deficit but came up just short Tuesday in a 7-6 loss to Williams Township in Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball action. Bladenboro will host Tar Heel Wednesday at Bladenboro.

Addison Wilcox drilled a single to left field, and Allison Hickman slammed a double to left to start the Bladenboro 6th inning. Adyson Carroll knocked in Wilcox and Hickman with a double to left. Hadley Dove reached base on a fielder’s choice, and 2 throwing errors on Liz Miller’s bunt scored Carroll and Dove and sliced the Williams lead to 6-5.

An error and a single produced a Lady Aggie run in the home 6th. Wilcox lined a double to the right-center field gap and scored on Carroll’s fielder’s choice in the Lady Bulldog 7th to whittle the final margin to 7-6.

Wilcox batted 3-for-4 with a double and 2 runs scored to lead the Bladenboro hitters. Hickman finished 2-for-4 at the plate with 2 doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Carroll doubled, drove in 3 runs and scored 1. Chloe Walters and Dove scored runs, and Caity McLaurin belted a single.

Walters walked to start the game. Wilcox ripped a single to left, and Hickman raked a double over the 3rd base bag that scored Walters for a quick 1-0 lead.

Williams scored 2 runs in the home 1st then capitalized on several errors to score 4 runs in the 2nd inning and take the 6-1 lead.
