ROCKY MOUNT – The Bladen County 10-and-Under Girls All-Stars split a pair of games Saturday in the Statewide Activities Committee (SWAC) State Tournament.
The Bladen team will play Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in the semifinals.
The Bladen team roared to an early 2-0 lead in their opener as Jeniyah Whittington and Zoe Hall fired in goals. However Nash County battled back and tallied the next 4 goals to pull out a 4-2 victory.
Whittington poured in a ‘Hat Trick’ plus 2 of 5 goals in Bladen County’s 6-2 victory over the Rocky Mount Gryphons. Whittington banged in a pair of 1st half goals, but Rocky Mount rallied to tie the match 2-2 at halftime.
Whittington lit up the scoreboard with 3 more goals in the 2nd half, and teammate Kenley Brisson knocked in a goal as Bladen County pulled away for a 6-2 victory.
Jeffrey Rogerson is the head coach of the Bladen all-stars. Team members are: Jayla Lewis, Jeniyah Whittington, Carley Rhodes, Hyleigh Brackett, Khloe Campbell, Zoe Hall, Harper Allen, Kenley Brisson, Bailey Fields, Katherine Thomas, Sully Peterson and Kinsley Parker.
