ST PAULS – St. Pauls captured 1st place in both the boys and girls meets Wednesday in a 4-team non-conference meet. East Bladen’s girls finished 2nd with 31.5 points behind St. Pauls 45 points. The Eagle boys placed 3rd with 28 points behind St Pauls (77) and Red Springs (37). Fairmont was 4th in both meets.
“We are going to be alright,” said Eagle Coach Wilson Bolden. “Things went well for us. Trinity Kemp in the 100 meters and Chace Butler in the 200 had times good enough to qualify for regionals.”
Kemp finished 3rd in the girls’ 100 meters in 13.46 seconds. Butler placed 5th in the boys’ 200 meters in 24.06 seconds.
Event winners for East Bladen were the boys 4×200 meter relay team (1:38); Jadon Pridgen in the discus (115 feet); Ariel Cromartie in the girls 100 meter hurdles (20.78); the girls 4×100 meter relay team (55.72); the girls 4×200 meter relay team (1:59); and the girls 4×400 meter relay team (5:22).
The Eagles will be back in action in another non-conference meet at St. Pauls on March 16, before conference meets begin at Clinton on March 23. All of the East Bladen results from Wednesday follow;
