SoftballWith her parents at her side and her coaches and teammates in attendance, East Bladen outfielder Anna Brewer signed Tuesday afternoon to continue her softball career next season at Southeastern Community College.

“I wanted to continue playing softball and I was going to attend Southeastern Community College,” said Brewer. “So I inquired and I have been given the opportunity to continue playing.  Coach (Karlyn) Stephens came to one of our games and is giving me a chance.”

Brewer batted fifth in the order for an East Bladen team that posted a 14-6 record and led the Class 2-A teams in the Four County Conference with a 10-4 record.

The Lady Eagles suffered an extra-inning loss in the first round of the play-offs, but Brewer hammered a triple and a single in that game.

“I love softball and I love watching her play,” said Anna’s mother. “I am so excited that she is continuing at SCC because it is a good school and close to home.”

“Anna was very dedicated to our program and is a very good player,” said East Bladen Coach Patty Evers. “She is very dependable and goal oriented.  She is very deserving of this opportunity and I am excited for her.”

The Southeastern Community College Lady Rams finished third in the Region X post-season tournament this past season, suffering a narrow 1-0 loss to league-leader Richard Bland. “Anna will be a great fit for them,” continued Coach Evers. “Coach Stephens has rebuilt that program and I am happy that we can be a part of it.”
