ELIZABETHTOWN – Senior Anondre Ganus pitched 6 strong innings of relief, and his South Columbus Stallions overcame an early 7-1 deficit to claim an 11-8 Three Rivers Conference baseball victory over East Bladen Monday night.

Ganus relieved starter Grayson Stocks in the second inning and allowed one run on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out four.

After the Stallions scored a first-inning run on 2 walks and a single, the Eagles answered with 7 runs in the home first. Senior Greyson Heustess led off with a single, and senior Shy Pone followed with a single. Sophomore Freddy Wooten knocked in Heustess with a double to centerfield, and sophomore Brady Hollingsworth walked.

Pone darted home on a passed ball, and senior Dan Tatum raked a single to left that scored Wooten. Sophomore Zach Meares belted a single that scored Davis Alsup, the courtesy runner for Hollingsworth. Junior Gabe Barber reached base on a fielder’s choice. Josh McKoy smacked a single that scored Tatum. Heustess walked, and Pone drove in Barber and Josh McKoy with a single.
Junior Rajon Graham singled and eventually stole home to trim the margin to 7-2 in the Stallion third inning. Seven walks and two hits produced 6 runs in the South fourth inning as the visitors edged in front 8-7.

The Stallions tacked on 3 more runs in the fifth inning. A passed third strike, singles by Ethan Kennedy and Graham and Tate Lee’s double led to the runs.

Meares walked and scored when Pone smashed a double to left field in the fifth inning to pull the Eagles to within 11-8.

East Bladen left the bases loaded in the sixth inning and left two more runners in the seventh. The Eagles stranded 12 runners on base in the game.

Pone batted 3-5 with a double, 3 runs batted in and a run scored to lead the Eagle hitters. Wooten finished 2-4 at the plate with a double, an rbi and a run scored. Hollingsworth also batted 2-4. Heustess, Tatum, Meares, Barber and Josh McKoy added one hit each. Tatum, Meares and Josh McKoy had one rbi each, and Heustess, Tatum, Meares, Barber, Josh McKoy and Alsup scored one run each.

Wooten started on the hill for the Eagles and pitched 3.1 innings allowing 4 runs on 8 hits and a walk while striking out five. Senior Pierce Melvin relieved and pitched 3.1 innings giving up 6 runs on 2 hits and 7 walks while striking out four. Senior Spencer Scott pitched the final 0.1 innings giving up a run on 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out one.

Joseph Ward batted 3-3 with an rbi and a run scored to lead South. Lee finished 2-4 with a double, an rbi and 2 runs scored. Graham was 2-3 with an rbi and 4 runs scored. Kennedy batted 2-4 with an rbi, and Trey Gore was 2-5 with 2 rbi’s.

East Bladen, now 8-3 in league play and 10-3 overall, will host West Columbus Tuesday night.
