ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen’s Eagles raced to an early 16-5 lead and kept that margin en route to a 58-41 non-conference boys basketball victory over South Columbus.

Junior Malcolm Bolden attacked the rim for a trio of baskets, junior Zamar Lewis powered in a pair of buckets, and junior Jacob Nixon sank 2 free throws and a basket during the early Eagle run.

Junior Malaki Monroe delivered a big 3-point shot for the Eagles in the 2nd period, and Bolden and senior Nazire Smith netted baskets to keep East on top 24-12 at halftime.

Bolden lit up the scoreboard with a 3-point basket, another basket and 4 free throws in the 3rd period. Lewis muscled in a pair of hoops to keep the Eagle lead at 39-27 at the 3rd quarter break.

Nixon bombed in a pair of 3-balls, another basket and 2 free throws in the final period for the winners. Bolden added a basket and a free throw, junior Jordan Mathis flipped in a basket, and Lewis cashed in a pair of free throws.

Bolden racked up 20 points, 2 assists and 2 steals to lead all scorers. Lewis posted a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds and also had 4 steals for East. Nixon pumped in 14 points and had 5 steals. Mathis grabbed 6 rebounds, Smith finished with 5 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Cameron White had 2 steals.

Jamal Brown led the Stallion scoring with 15 points.

Coach Aking Elting’s Eagles evened their record at 3-3. East Bladen will return to action on December 28th at 1:30 p.m. in the Hoggard Holiday Classic against Wilmington Ashley.
