ELIZABETHTOWN – Senior Maya McDonald poured in 22 points Friday night to lead unbeaten East Bladen to a 56-12 non-conference girls’ basketball victory over South Columbus.

The versatile McDonald also checked all the stat columns with 7 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists. Junior AnnaGrey Heustess battled inside for 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Junior Maegan Burney fired in 9 points for the winners. Freshman Iveonna Ward pumped in 6 points, pulled down 5 rebounds and collected 4 steals. Sophomore Zoe Smith snatched 6 rebounds.

The Lady Eagles built a 17-8 1st quarter lead then blew the game open with a 20-0 2nd period surge that stretched the lead to 37-8. The margin grew to 50-12 after 3 periods, and a running clock was employed over the final minutes.

Coach Patty Evers’ East Bladen squad improved to 8-0 with the victory and will return to action on December 28th at 12 noon in the Hoggard Holiday Classic against Wilmington Ashley.
