HOPE MILLS – Senior Xzavier Thaggard poured in 26 points Monday night in his 1st game since transferring to Gray’s Creek and led the Bears to a 58-27 non-conference boys basketball victory over East Bladen.

Thaggard, a point guard, was rated as one of the top 80 players in South Carolina before transferring from Trinity Collegiate School in Darlington, SC. Against East he nailed five 3-point shots and fired in 24 points before halftime as the Bears built leads of 16-3 and 43-16 at the quarter breaks.

Junior Malcolm Bolden scored 5 of his 9 points for East Bladen in the opening half. Junior center Zamar Lewis added 6 points for the Eagles. Ari Fulton followed Thaggard on the Bear scoring list with 13 points.

The Eagles, now 2-2, will travel to Whiteville Friday night.
