ELIZABETHTOWN – A 19-6 closing run propelled Midway to a 63-41 Four County Conference boys basketball victory over East Bladen Tuesday night.

Demetrius Wooten drained a pair of 3-point shots and one 2-point shot in the opening quarter to keep East Bladen within 20-15 at the first quarter break. Guard Denzel Johnson nailed a 3-point shot and another basket in the period.

Malik Sankey threw in 8 of his 11 points and Colby Pope racked up 6 points in the quarter as the Raiders built the early lead. Teammate Adam Butler tallied 6 of his 10 points in the second period as the Raiders maintained a 30-25 halftime lead.

Johnson bombed in a pair of 3-point shots for the Eagles in the second quarter, and sophmore Adonis Avery added a basket.

Demetrius Wooten dropped in 2 more baskets in the third period, and Avery, Johnson and senior Eian Hines scored one basket each to keep East Bladen within 44-35 at the quarter break.

Junior Xavier Wooten netted a basket and 2 free throws in the final quarter, but Midway pulled away as Austin Raynor tallied 7 of his game-high 15 points in the fourth period.

Johnson led the Eagle scoring with 13 points, and Demetrius Wooten was right behind him with 12 points. Avery finished with 6 points, and Xavier Wooten totaled 5.

The Eagles travel to Cape Fear Wednesday night for a non-conference game.
