SHALLOTTE – Sophmore Makoa Surigoa rang up 15 points Wednesday night to lead West Brunswick to a 75-35 non-conference boys basketball victory over East Bladen.

Senior Hayden Grimes, a 6-5 center, threw in 12 points for the Trojans and 6-7 junior Jadyn Parker added 9 points. Eleven players scored in the game for West Brunswick.

Parker dropped in a trio of baskets in the first quarter as the Trojans built a 16-6 lead. Senior Greyson Heustess pumped in a pair of baskets in the period for East Bladen.

Surigao threw in 6 points in the second quarter to lead a 21-6 surge that pushed the West lead to 37-12 at halftime.

Heustess drained a pair of 3-point shots in the third quarter, and senior Pierce Melvin tossed in a basket and 2 free throws. Corey McKoy and Heustess connected on 3-point shots in the final quarter for East Bladen.

Heustess led the Eagle scoring with 13 points. Melvin finished with 6 points, and McKoy added 5.

East Bladen, now 1-2, will resume Three Rivers Conference play Friday night at South Columbus.
