CLARKTON – Clarkton School of Discovery defeated Elizabethtown in the championship game of the Bladen Five Middle School Conference Tournament Tuesday night. Coach Chris Callihan’s Lady Blue Devils completed an undefeated season with a 6-0 record.
In the Tournament’s first match, No. 4 seed Tar Heel defeated East Arcadia 25-13 and 25-16. In the second match, top-seeded Clarkton advanced to the finals with a 25-16, 25-9 victory over Tar Heel.
The other semi-final match took 3 sets before No. 2 seed Elizabethtown claimed a 2-1 victory over No. 3 seed Bladenboro by set scores of 25-5, 21-25 and 15-10.
Clarkton won the title match 2-0 by set scores of 25-20 and 25-16.
Members of the Lady Blue Devils championship squad are: Lauren Bowen, Maegan Burney, Katie Evans, Alyssa Futrell, Sara Gargala, Lauren Gooden, Heather Hardin, AnnaGrey Heustess, Khadijah Jones, Lily Lin, Merritt Martin, Sophia Masaid, Tara Rogers and Emma Turbeville.
