East Bladen’s home game Friday night with South Columbus was cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols, but the Eagles have found another opponent to play in West Carteret. Game time is 6:30.
Spencer Maxwell caught 3 passes for 107 yards and rushed for a team-high 61 yards on 6 carries to lead West Carteret to a 20-14 win over Ayden-Grifton last Friday. Brian Garner threw for 136 yards for the Class 3A Patriots, who were without starting quarterback Jamarion Montford.
Xavier Jones forced a fumble on a quarterback sack in the end zone that produced the 2nd Patriot touchdown. Two fumble recoveries and an interception aided West Carteret’s cause.
Sophomore Masion Brooks rushed for 54 yards and scored 2 touchdowns to lead East Bladen against Wallace-Rose Hill. Teammate Sherman Monroe ran for 51 yards. Senior quarterback Javius Brooks completed 5 of 9 passes for 82 yards. Nazire Smith had 4 pass receptions for 80 yards.
