FootballHeide Trask invades the ‘Castle’ Friday night, and at face value the Titans are not that formidable an opponent, but West Bladen supporters remember just how costly last year’s victory over the Titans was.

Four Trask players and 3 Knights were ejected following a third-quarter skirmish that kept West Bladen out of the Class 2-A post-season play-offs.

“We want to have no recollection of last year,” said Knight Coach Russell Dove. “I think having to sit at home made quite an impression last year, and we have got to take care of ourselves. We will remind our kids of that.”

As for this year’s Trask team, the Titans one win was 44-10 over South Robeson. Trask lost 22-20 to West Columbus, 30-12 to East Columbus and 62-19 to Wallace-Rose Hill in their one conference game.

“That No. 23 (Steve Jordan) can really go,” said Coach Dove. “Their quarterback (Tyrease Armstrong) is really good, and that big end (Tynaffit Davis) is good. They are scrappy and they play hard.”

After all the rain and postponements, the Knights are hoping for a dry track. “We are ready to get back to what we can do,” said Coach Dove.

The Knights are also getting close to being healthy as they will get defensive back Raekwon Shaw, junior Jonathan Ashworth and senior Deontae McKoy back from the injured list. Senior tight end Hunter Prevatte is still out with a rib injury suffered due to a late hit in the St. Pauls game.

Senior Malique McDowell leads the Knight rushing attack with 531 yards and 2 touchdowns. Sophomore B. J. Drake has rushed for 412 yards and 2 touchdowns, and junior James Moore has 390 rushing yards.

Senior quarterback Stefan McDonald has passed for 183 yards. Senior David Gittens and junior Hunter Pait lead the Knight defense.
