Sophmore Alex Canady bombed in six 3-point shots and totaled 29 points to lead Clinton’s Lady Dark Horses past visiting West Bladen 63-32 Friday night in Four County Conference girls basketball action.

Junior Kiera Mabry banked in a 3-pointer and senior Brielle Mitchell scored in transition for a quick 5-0 Clinton lead with 6:13 left in the first period.

Junior Laikyn Pait nailed a 3-point shot for the first Lady Knight basket, but Canady answered with a pair of 3-balls and a lay-up that grew the Clinton lead to 15-3.

Sophmore Elizabeth Allbright worked the backboards for a pair of baskets, and freshman Erika McKoy drove for a lay-up that resulted in a 3-point play and trimmed the margin to 19-10. Junior Logan Autry added a free throw that kept West within 19-11 at the quarter break.

Autry sank 2 free throws, and McKoy hit one for the only Lady Knight points of the second quarter. Mitchell threw in 8 points in the quarter to lead an 18-3 Lady Dark Horse surge that put Clinton up 37-14 at halftime.

Junior Jerena Purdie powered in a rebound, and Pait converted an Alanna Ludlum assist into a lay-up to begin the third period for West.

Pait canned 2 free throws and drilled a 3-point shot for West, but Canady fired in a trio of 3-point shots and drove for a lay-up and another 3-point play to push the lead to 50-23 at the quarter break.

Junior Akira Grimes buried a 17-footer and 2 free throws in the final quarter. McKoy banked in a runner then pitched ahead to sophmore Patience Parker for a lay-up and the final Lady Knight basket.

Pait led the Lady Knights with 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. McKoy finished with 6 points and 3 steals. Allbright tallied 5 points and pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds.

Grimes added 4 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Autry collected 7 rebounds, Anderson contributed 6 rebounds, Purdie totaled 5 rebounds and Parker had 4 rebounds.

Mitchell finished with 17 points for Clinton.

The Lady Knights are now 3-1 in league play and 5-8 overall. After a break for exams, West Bladen will travel to Midway next Friday.
