ROSEBORO – Sophomore Mallory Bryan fired in 14 points to lead West Bladen to a 35-26 non-conference girls’ basketball victory over Lakewood Wednesday night.

Bryan tossed in a pair of 1st quarter baskets, and junior Lainey Autry drained a 3-point shot as the Lady Knights built an 8-4 lead. Bryan and junior Azillyah McDonald dropped in baskets in the 2nd period that grew the West lead to 12-6 at halftime.

Sophomore Megan Pait nailed a 3-point shot and a free throw, and Bryan popped in 2 more baskets to grow the Lady Knight lead to 20-13. Autry added a bucket as the lead grew to 22-13 at the quarter break.

Sophomore Brookee Singletary worked the paint for 2 baskets and a free throw in the final period. Bryan pumped in 2 more baskets, and freshmen Kiera Lewis and Holland Davis added a basket each to keep the Lady Knights on top.

Singletary and Autry finished with 5 points each for the winners. Pait followed with 4 points. Junior Gwendolyn King led Lakewood with 10 points, and senior Tiyah Owens added 9 points.

Coach Brian McCleney’s Lady Knights improved to 2-1 and will host West Columbus Friday night. West Bladen was without 6 players who are quarantined due to contact tracing for the 2nd consecutive game.
